Villa Mel

In Huizen, the new-build villa unfolds as a sequence of connected volumes that open toward the surrounding woodland. The hallway acts as a threshold between outside and inside, offering sightlines into the living space, which is oriented almost entirely toward the garden. Large glazed surfaces bring the light of the forest indoors, softening the boundary between interior and landscape.

Outside, the terrace extends the living area, with the pool serving as a quiet anchor within the garden. The kitchen connects directly to these outdoor zones, allowing cooking and gathering to flow into one another. The architecture remains restrained: clean lines, understated materials, and a layout that keeps attention on the setting rather than on the building itself.

The project was realized by Marco van Veldhuizen, who aligned the villa's modern vocabulary with the wooded context of Huizen. The additional photographs trace how the various spaces, from hallway to terrace, relate to one another and to the surrounding landscape.
