Canal House I

Canal House I

by RA STUDIO

This refined Amsterdam canal house interiors showcase a masterful blend of heritage and contemporary sophistication. The design celebrates the property's period character through warm wood paneling and marble accents, while introducing modern furnishings and curated color palettes. Strategic use of jewel tones, sculptural seating, and statement lighting creates distinct atmospheres across dining, living, and entertainment spaces, transforming the historic residence into a sophisticated modern sanctuary.

Across the townhouse, RA STUDIO and Isabel Bronts approached each room as a distinct chapter within the same bohemian narrative. The hallway sets a quiet rhythm, leading into a kitchen where texture and pattern take precedence over strict symmetry, and further into the living room, where layered textiles and eclectic objects soften the canal house's original proportions.

Upstairs, the bedroom continues this loose, collected sensibility, balancing comfort with a sense of curated ease. The bathroom, more restrained, offers a counterpoint of clean lines against the surrounding warmth. Additional photographs of the exterior situate the interior within its Amsterdam canal setting, grounding the bohemian language in the house's historic street presence.

Together, the rooms read less as a fixed style than as an ongoing conversation between old walls and new furnishings — one shaped as much by restraint as by decoration.
