Surrounded by the Forest

The project was realised in collaboration with Friso Woudstra Architecten and completed in 2022, set within a wooded plot that lends the home its name. Photography by Marieke van Dijk captures the interplay of natural light filtering through sheer linen curtains and the warm glow of custom brass wall lamps.

Throughout the interior, curved architectural lines soften the transitions between rooms, most visibly in the sculpted staircase wall and rounded doorway. Herringbone oak parquet runs consistently across the ground floor, grounding the varied material choices—from marble countertops to dark, wallpapered walls in the more intimate seating areas.

Furniture and objects were carefully curated to add texture and personality, ranging from velvet armchairs to bubble-glass pendant lighting and decorative taxidermy, resulting in a home that feels both considered and lived-in.
