De Koopren Ring

De Koopren Ring

De Koopren Ring is the restoration and interior styling of a historic townhouse, where original architectural details have been carefully preserved and enhanced. Ornate plaster archways, gilded corbels and antique wood-framed windows sit alongside a considered material palette of ochre walls, marble flooring and dark carpeted staircases. In the living spaces, deep petrol-blue woodwork and gold leaf detailing frame a curated mix of vintage and contemporary furniture. The result balances period grandeur with a livable, layered interior.

The house reveals its character through a sequence of transitions: a marble-floored entrance hall leads past an arched doorway with gilded ornamentation, while a narrow leaded window brings borrowed light into a small alcove. The original staircase, painted white with a charcoal runner, anchors the vertical circulation and connects the historic shell to the more intimate upper floors.

In the main living areas, a striking blue-painted archway with gold leaf accents frames a sitting room dressed in deep, moody tones — velvet sofas, brass side tables and layered lighting. Furniture pieces, from an Eames lounge chair to sculptural side tables, are mixed freely with antique cabinetry, creating rooms that feel collected rather than decorated.

Outside, the entrance is marked simply by a house number and an old-fashioned lantern, tucked beneath tree branches — a quiet counterpoint to the richness found within.
