Villa on the Veluwe

Set deep within the woods of the Veluwe, the villa was conceived to offer privacy without sacrificing openness. The choice of coloured slate for both roof and walls allows the mass of the building to blend into its natural context, while a full-height glazed entrance framed in zinc marks the transition between inside and out.

Inside, white walls, timber stair treads and a laser-cut floral partition create a light-filled, layered atmosphere. Large windows throughout the living spaces frame views of the surrounding trees, while dark upholstered furniture and a thick rug ground the otherwise pale interior.

Studio Kap & Berk was responsible for the full design, from architecture and exterior to interior finishes, working with local contractors and craftsmen on construction, joinery and furnishing.
