Contemporary villa between forest and city

Contemporary villa between forest and city

by kap.studio

This contemporary villa sits at the transition between woodland and urban surroundings, its grey brick facade and expansive glazing opening the home to the surrounding greenery. A cantilevered upper volume creates a sheltered terrace below, while inside, a striking laser-cut white decorative screen divides the hallway from the stairwell, filtering light and views. Warm oak detailing and a soft grey resin floor bring a calm, refined atmosphere throughout the circulation spaces.

The renovation reworked the villa's structure and materiality, wrapping the exterior in a textured grey brick that gives the building a monolithic yet warm presence. Large glazed openings on both levels connect the interior directly to the garden and the mature trees beyond, softening the boundary between inside and out.

Inside, the entrance sequence is defined by a decorative perforated panel that acts as a semi-transparent partition between hallway and stairwell, allowing daylight from an internal courtyard to filter through. Oak doors, built-in wardrobes and a floating staircase complement the pale resin flooring, creating a restrained material palette that lets the architectural details stand out.

A collaboration between architect, contractor and various specialist craftsmen shaped the final result, from the custom joinery to the garden design surrounding the terrace.
