Wilhelminakapel Renovation

Taanbaas led the conversion of the chapel into a residence, letting the existing structure determine the layout of the new rooms. The living area and kitchen occupy the full height of the former nave, a scale that keeps the building's original function present.

The hallway links these communal spaces to the more enclosed parts of the house, including the bedroom and bathroom, finished in a contemporary manner that doesn't compete with the monumental shell around it. Outside, a terrace connects to the garden side of the building, facing the chapel's distinctive facade.

The exterior of the former chapel has largely been left untouched; the intervention takes place mainly within, in the contrast between the historic outer skin and the present-day interior.
