Villa in Harmony

Villa in Harmony

by ENZO architectuur N interieur

This villa renovation in Amstelveen transformed a closed, U-shaped ground floor into one open living space where cooking, dining, working and relaxing flow together. A full-width extension and sleek glass facades create long sight lines from the front garden to the rear, while a light shaft along the existing wall pulls daylight deep into the home. The design language, developed from the owners' sound engineering background, translates waveform patterns into a recurring pattern of geometric lines and organic curves seen in doors, handles and custom furniture.

The original layout separated the home's functions with a closed U-shaped floor plan on the ground floor. By opening this up into a single continuous space, the kitchen, dining and living areas are now grouped around a shared centre, keeping the family connected throughout the day.

A custom sliding panel adds flexibility to the open plan, allowing privacy when needed without breaking the overall spatial flow. Slender glazed doors and a continuous floor finish strengthen the connection between interior and garden.

Throughout the house, a distinct visual language—derived from an analysis of sound waves—appears in tailor-made elements such as a pivoting door, a rug and various bespoke details, balancing geometric precision with organic movement.
