Monumental Living on the Herengracht

The living room is anchored by a scrolling black ironwork canopy suspended below the original ceiling, its spotlights doubling as both sculpture and illumination. Tall mirrors and cream wall panels reflect the pattern, amplifying the sense of depth in a space already generous in height.

A caramel leather sectional, sheepskin throw and patchwork rug soften the formality of the panelled walls, while a framed architectural photograph and small ceramics add quiet personal touches. Brass table lamps echo the warmth of the wood floor beneath.

Elsewhere in the house, the original oak staircase, Carrara marble skirting and leaded windows remain untouched, connecting the new interventions to the building's nineteenth-century structure. A sculptural pendant light marks the transition between old stairwell and renovated living spaces.
